What you actually pay vs. a recovery firm

The standard surplus recovery firm takes 30–50% as contingency. Even at the low end, that's massively more than a flat fee for the same paperwork — paperwork that's largely clerical, not adversarial.

Pricing questions

When do I pay?
You only pay when you're ready to unlock your packet — either $500 once, or by starting the $42/month plan. Either way your court-ready packet unlocks as soon as payment starts. If we can't produce a valid filing for your state, you pay nothing.
What's the difference between $500 up front and the $42 plan?
Nothing about what you get — it's the exact same packet. Paying in full is one $500 charge. The plan is 12 monthly payments of $42 ($504 total); after the twelfth payment it's paid off automatically and never charges again.
Are there court fees I need to pay separately?
Yes — every county charges a filing fee when you submit the motion (typically $250–$435 depending on your state). That fee goes directly to the court, not to us. We list the exact amount on the State Coverage page.
Why a flat fee instead of a percentage?
Because the work to prepare a $5,000 claim packet is the same as a $500,000 claim packet. Percentage pricing punishes people with bigger surpluses for no good reason. We think you should keep your money.
What if I stop paying on the plan?
If a plan payment fails or you cancel before it's paid off, access to the packet locks again until you're current. You're only ever charged for the months you've paid — there's no penalty.
